The Consumer Electronics Show was exciting for us this year. If you did not get a chance to visit us at CES, let me tell you what you missed. But before I get to the details of our blinking black boxes, I just want to mention the Jazz ensemble Dave's True Story. They gave a great performance at the CEMA reception party on opening night and indulged us by coming and listening to themselves in our room in 24bit/96kHz. And lucky for us, they liked what they heard. It was a real treat to have them in our exhibit room and we had a great evening together. Thanks to Kelly, Jeff, Dave (see photo) and the whole group for indulging us. Their music is very original, enjoyable and available in DVD 24/96 on the Chesky label.

Another performer that indulged us by comming to our room was Lorna Hunt. She also performed at the CEMA reception party courtesy of Classic Audio records. Lorna is a single performer, but alone with her guitar she sure can fill the room with music. You can also enjoy her in 24/96 on the Classic label.

This year, Birdland Audio teamed up with Vince Christian Ltd - speaker manufacturer - to demonstrate the way music should sound. The configuration in our room was a bit out of the ordinary as we were actually running bi-amplification with an active cross over. But here is what was new at CES 1999 for us: Solid-Tubetm That's right, the big news of CES 1999 is that we were exhibiting a prototype of our new Solid-Tubetm amplifier design. This new technology, developped by French designer Gilles Gameiro, is to become the new basic foundation of all Birdland Audio's future designs. Anyway, I will never forget CES 1999. I really enjoyed meeting Dave's True Story and Lorna Hunt and, teaming with Vince Christian was a great and fun experience. I know we will exhibit again together in the future so please stay posted on our up-comming shows.
